We will volunteer wherever else we are needed the options are limitless. Some tasks will include gardening, mending, cleaning, carpentry, cooking, reading and just visiting. Overnight host family. Day 9

Safari - After leaving Ngong town we stop at the Rift Valley view point for some nice views of the valley and the mountains that can be seen from afar. We then head to the papyrus-fringed Lake Naivasha, a cool and peaceful escape from Nairobi’s big-city bustle. With over 400 species of bird, this freshwater lake is a birding Paradise. Along the lake’s fabled waters, we are bound to see some of the area’s more intriguing species—hippos, giraffes, buffalo and even the arboreal colobus monkey. Lake Naivasha lies in the Great Rift Valley and the name derives from the local Maasai name Nai'posha, meaning "place of rough water" because of the sudden storms which can arise.

After lunch we visit Crescent island — a private sanctuary, where you can walk beneath yellow-barked acacias (yellow fever trees) in search of giraffes, wildebeest, impala, dikdiks, Thompson’s and Grant’s gazelles, elands, waterbucks and countless bird species. Guests are allowed to walk with the animals since all were introduced during the filming of Out of Africa. An afternoon boat ride on the lake reveals many water bird species and schools of Hippos. Overnight camping at Lake Naivasha camp/lodge. (Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner included)

Day 10

Day trip to Lake Nakuru National Park. After breakfast, we travel to Lake Nakuru National Park for a full day game viewing experience. The spectacular alkaline Lake is famously known as the feeding ground of both lesser and greater flamingos. This National park, which is fenced all round is a sanctuary for birds, Rothschild giraffes and both black and white-rhinos. Other mammals in abundance include Waterbucks, Buffalos, Gazelles, Lions, Baboons and the elusive Leopards sometimes seen sleeping on the horizontal branches of the “Yellow Fever trees”. We will enjoy our picnic lunch at the spectacular Baboon cliff that overlooks the whole lake. Return to Lake Naivasha camp/lodge. (Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner included)

Day 11

Lake Naivasha – Maasai Mara Game Reserve. After breakfast at L.Naivasha, we depart for the the Maasai Mara Game Reserve-jewel of Kenya's Game viewing. The Maasai Mara is Kenya's finest and most outstanding wildlife sanctuary where gentle rolling grassland ensures animals are never out of sight. The climate is gentle, rarely too hot and well spread rainfall year round. The sensation of the great wildebeest migration between July and October is unparalleled. The wildlife is far from being confined within the Reserve boundaries and an even larger area extends beyond the game Reserve. Centuries of close association with the wildlife has resulted in an almost symbiotic relationship where wildlife and Maasai people live in peace with one another. After lunch at our tented camp, we will go to the plains of Masai Mara and enjoy game viewing for the rest of the afternoon. Maasai Mara is the one place that you can experience excellent game drives all year round and with a little bit of luck you can spot the Big Five even in one day. No matter how much of Africa you have seen these is unexpected. Overnight Camping at Mara camp/lodge. (Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner included)

Day 12

Explore Maasai Mara Game Reserve – Today is spent in the vast eco-system of the Mara searching for the big five and much more. You also have an optional balloon safari, many call it a once in a life time experience, once you are up, you won’t want to come down, and when you land a champagne breakfast awaits you. The annual wildebeest migration is expected in the Maasai Mara between July and early November. Millions of animals migrate to the Mara from Serengeti in search of fresh green pastures and water. It’s also worth noting that every game drive is different from the other, and missing one is missing out on the fun. Overnight camping at Mara camp/lodge. (Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner included)

Day 13

Maasai Mara Game reserve to Rift Valley. We enjoy an early breakfast and then we drive back towards Ngong and into the Rift Valley. We have lunch along the way as we descend into the floor of the Rift valley just behind the magnificent Ngong hills into the Maasai village that is our friend James's home. We will find them waiting for us to help set up camp under the Acacia tree, settle in and get ready for our day as a Maasai. Overnight camping Maasai Village. (Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner included)

Day 14

Maasai Day - Up at the crack of dawn to milk the cows and goats, feed them and take them off to pasture, we will deliver water, gather firewood and participate in so many more activities. Another highlight of the trip and if we are lucky we will spot giraffes grazing in the plains around the village. We will enjoy a campfire and sing along with our Maasai family before falling asleep to the sound of hyenas. Overnight camping Maasai Village. (Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner included)

Day 15

Maasai Village – Today we awake and pack up camp and head to Ngong and our host families for one last afternoon. Take advantage of your free time this afternoon to visit at the orphanage or head into the market or just relax and enjoy your surroundings. Later in afternoon we will enjoy a farewell dinner before departing for Nairobi Airport. (Breakfast and Dinner included)

Day 16

Arrive in Toronto.
